The angle and its symbolism

A square is one quarter of a circle. It is often read as tension between two functions that need to coexist. Tension need not imply failure: it can be used as a question about competing priorities, repeated habits, or a problem that needs a practical response.

A useful interpretation

Name both sides without labeling one bad. For example, a symbolic conflict between expansion and restraint may invite a plan with realistic limits. A square cannot establish that an event will go wrong or that a person is fundamentally conflicted.

Orbs and context

An orb is the allowed difference from the exact angle. Astrologers use different limits for natal charts, transits, and particular planets. A label should always be accompanied by the measured orb and the stated method; there is no single universally accepted cutoff.
