The angle and its symbolism

An opposition is half a circle. Astrologers often explore it through polarity, contrast, and awareness of a need that seems to belong elsewhere. The Sun and Moon are in opposition at full Moon, though most planetary oppositions are unrelated to lunar phases.

A useful interpretation

Try expressing the needs at both ends as legitimate concerns. The task may involve timing, negotiation, or seeing a projection more clearly. An opposition does not require a conflict with another person, and compromise is only one possible response.

Orbs and context

An orb is the allowed difference from the exact angle. Astrologers use different limits for natal charts, transits, and particular planets. A label should always be accompanied by the measured orb and the stated method; there is no single universally accepted cutoff.
