Symbolic meaning
In astrology, the Moon is commonly used to explore instinctive responses and familiar ways of finding comfort. Its astronomical phase is a separate measurement from its zodiac sign: phase describes the Sun–Moon relationship, while sign locates the Moon along the ecliptic.
Astronomical context
The Moon moves quickly, usually changing signs every two to three days. A birth time can therefore matter greatly near a sign boundary. The monthly phase cycle is about 29.5 days; the Moon completes a circuit relative to the stars in about 27.3 days.
How to work with it
Use lunar symbolism to ask what restores you and which habits no longer fit your circumstances. A placement cannot diagnose emotional needs or mental health. In chart work, compare the Moon with the Sun and their relationship before forming an interpretation.
